Author’s Note: Some years ago, I worked in a network operations center, more commonly known as a NOC. This rewriting of “Just the Two of Us” is written in homage to those times, to the people with whom I worked, and to the creators of the original song.

I see the guard way down the hall
And my phone receives a call
And then his voice comes ringing through
To make those tickets in my mind
When I think of you sometime
And I wanna spend a shift with you

Just the three of us
We can NOC it if we try
Just the three of us
(Just the three of us)
Just the three of us
Fixing networks in the sky
Just the three of us
You and I

We seek events, no time to act
Wasted time cannot come back
And it don’t make no fibers last
Good things might come to those who wait
But not for those who wait too late
We gotta go—forget the past

Just the three of us
We can NOC it if we try
Just the three of us
(Just the three of us)
Just the three of us
Fixing them servers in the sky
Just the three of us
You and I

I see the clock up on the wall
And the beauty of it all
Is it’s now time for ev’ning crew
And, colleague, when the day shift comes
And I see the morning sun
I wanna be the NOC with you

Just the three of us
We can NOC it if we try
Just the three of us
(Just the three of us)
Just the three of us
Fixing them tickets way on high
Just the three of us
You and I

(Just the three of us)
Yes! The three of us
(We can NOC it, just the three of us)
Let’s get it together colleagues! (yeah)
(Just the three of us)
Just the three of us
(We can NOC it, just the three of us)
(Just the three of us)
(We can NOC it, just the three of us)
(Just the three of us)
(We can NOC it, just the three of us)
(Just the three of us)
(We can NOC it, just the three of us)
(Just the three of us)
(We can NOC it, just the three of us)
(Just the three of us)
